2025 REnaissance Trilogy

This year, the Fairy & Iron Renaissance Faire expands into a three-part saga—an immersive trilogy of magic, mystery, and merriment. Each event stands alone as a full experience with vendors, entertainment, and enchanting vibes—but together, they tell a story that unfolds across the seasons. Whether you attend one or follow the entire journey, you’ll step into a world where fantasy and folklore collide in the most delightful way.  Each event is a standalone celebration—but together, they tell one unforgettable story.

Begin your journey at the Evening Affair (July 12–13 at Cox Creek Cellars, Guelph), an intimate twilight faire filled with artisan vendors, a celtic orchestra, wine tastings, and magic. As the sun sets and toasts are raised, a sacred artifact vanishes—setting off a kingdom-wide search for the truth.

The story deepens at the Rustic Renaissance Faire (September 6–7 at Andrews Scenic Acres, Milton), a full-scale daytime festival celebrating freedom and folklore. Expect performers, craft vendors, games, and immersive scenes as whispers of an ancient heir threaten to plunge the land back into chaos.

Finally, don your finest for the Yuletide Ball (December 28 at The Grand Chalet in M), an indoor medieval banquet and theatrical finale. With live music, dance, and dramatic revelations, the kingdom’s fate will be decided over dinner and firelight—will peace return to Shadowmere, or will darkness rise again?

Don't miss your chance to unveil the mystery...

Book I

Chapter I

Once upon a time there lived a young king. Like most kings, he dreamed of glory. But unlike most kings, he achieved it. For hundreds of years, the Seelie Court lived in fear of their northern neighbours, the Unseelie. The Unseelie thrived on chaos and fear. They tormented the Seelie, making their lives miserable. Using three magical artifacts that were passed down to every Unseelie King, the Unseelie were unmatched in power. With The Book Of Knowing, The Chalice of Fate and The First Fae’s Sword, the Unseelie King could not be stopped. After watching his people suffer at the hands of the wicked Unseelie, the young Seelie King, Oberon, raised an army and fought against his enemy. After three long years of war, Oberon and his army defeated the Unseelie King. Taking the three powerful Unseelie artifacts, Oberon dismantled the two courts, and created a unified kingdom, Shadowmere.

Chapter II

Now, after years of peace, the kingdom of Shadowmere is getting ready to celebrate three important battles that were a part of Oberon the Great’s conquest. Throughout the kingdom, people will gather to honour The Battle of Mor, Siege of Hope and The Battle of Two Kings. As the mead flows, they will celebrate their freedom with music, dancing and feasting. Merry citizens from across Shadowmere will venture far and wide to honour the great sacrifice and success of their ancestors.Evening Affair, In honour of The Battle of Mor, Rustic Renaissance Faire, In honour of Siege of Hope, Yuletide Ball, In honour of The Battle of Two Kings. But while they gather in celebration, an unknown darkness moves in the shadows. Rumours of an Unseelie Heir seeking revenge have been spreading throughout taverns in the northern regions of Shadowmere. Some claim they seek the three magical artifacts that Oberon stole from the Unseelie King – the three objects that could give them the power to reclaim the Unseelie throne.

Chapter III

A twist of fate. Something has changed. The night is dark. Not even the moon shines. The night is quiet. But if you listen closely, you will hear the wind as it whispers. A forgotten name slips from its lips, as it weaves a tale of revenge. While everyone is dreaming, the king's library has been broken into. The Book of Knowing has been taken.

Chapter IIII

Word has spread throughout the kingdom of Shadowmere that The Book of Knowing has gone

Missing. The crown has assured the people that there is nothing to fear. “Good gentle citizens of

Shadowmere. Fear not. There is no Unseelie Heir. We have full faith that the gods will bring the

book back to us.” But fear is rising. Panic has embedded itself into the hearts of its citizens. Many are afraid to leave their homes. Some have cancelled their plans to travel to the upcoming festivities. Could the rumours of an Unseelie Heir be true? Has the time of peace come to an end?

Chapter V

Knight 1: “Attention ladies and gentlemen. It is time that we raise our glasses to toast the great

accomplishment of our king and protector, Oberon. As we gather here tonight we honour those

who fought in Oberon the Great’s conquest. The Battle of Mor was fought on this–

Knight 2: *Comes running out from behind something, in a panic. “IT’S GONE! IT’S GONE! The Chalice of Fate has been stolen!”

Villager from the crowd: “The rumours are true! The Unseelie Heir lives! They have finally come to take revenge on us all!”

Knight 1: “Alright, alright everyone calm down, there is no Unseelie He-”

Villager from the crowd: “Aye! There is an Unseelie Heir! Hide your childlings, protect your wives and board up your homes. The heir comes to take revenge on all who fought against his blood!”

Knight 1: “That is enough! We do not know what has happened but I am sure it is just a

misunderstanding. Now please everyone remain calm.” *points to the band* “Ah, yes, the bards are here! Play us a song to calm the crowd.”

Book II

Chapter I

Over the next few days, word of the Chalice of Fate disappearing at The Battle of Mor memorial

event spread far and wide. The crown has been unusually quiet on the matter, there has been no official statement from King Oberon. However, citizens have noticed a greater presence of royal guards throughout the realm. Magic wielding citizens of Shadowmere swear they can feel a shift in the air. The balance of light and darkness is changing. The pendulum of power is swinging. Whoever has stolen The Book of Knowing and The Chalice of Fate is on their way to becoming the most powerful being in all the realm. If the rumours are true and the Unseelie Heir lives, what will become of Shadowmere?

Chapter II

The Creation of the Magical Artifacts - Part One

Before Shadowmere was formed, before the days of the Seelie and Unseelie courts, the First Fae walked the earth. Among them was a powerful fae sorcerer, Cirrus. Cirrus was a young fae with a curious mind. He loved magic and made it his mission to learn everything he could about it. From researching to apprenticing, Cirrus did all he could do to understand the complex nature of magic. He believed that if he could master the art of magic, he would be able to solve any problem his people had. He dreamed of a world without hunger, disease and war. He dreamed of a world where magic could strip away evil, and all beings could live in harmony. This dream fuelled his research. Over the long years of his life, Cirrus poured his soul into his study. During this time he created many magical artifacts. But three artifacts stood out from the rest. The Book of Knowing, The Chalice of Fate and The First Fae’s Sword, were more powerful than anything the sorcerer could have ever imagined creating.

Chapter III

The Creation of the Magical Artifacts - Part Two

One afternoon that seemed like an ordinary afternoon, Cirrus was in his workshop. Like always the fae sorcerer was testing magical theories. In typical Cirrus fashion, his work table was covered with books, loose parchment, and different cauldrons, bubbling with spells.

Accompanying Cirrus this afternoon was his young apprentice, Revon. As the sorcerer worked, his apprentice swept the floors, everything was as it always was, until fate intervened.

Cirrus, too lost in his work, didn't notice the loose parchment on the floor. He slipped, knocking into the table, causing the three magical potions he was working on to spill on his notebook. The three potions intertwined, covering the notebook in their magic.

Cirrus wasn’t sure how it happened, but from that moment on, the book was enchanted, giving its reader the answer to any question they sought. All one had to do was hold the book in their hands and ask their question. The book would open on its own, flip to a page, and the answer would appear. Thus, The Book of Knowing was created.

Chapter IIII

The Creation of the Magical Artifacts - Part Three

“Is there a way to control fate?” Revon asked Cirrus one morning.

“Why do you ask?” Cirrus responded.

“If one could control fate, one could stop disasters and wars before they even happen.” Cirrus sat in his favourite chair and pondered his apprentice’s words. Could there be a way to control fate?

Cirrus went to his work table and over the next few weeks, he poured himself into his work. Cirrus lost time; he became obsessed with trying to find a way to control fate.

Then in the early hours of the morning, Cirrus yelled, “Revon! Revon, come quick!”

The apprentice came running from his chambers. “What is it, sir?” he asked, as he tried to catch his breath.

“I did it.” Cirrus held up a golden chalice. “Anyone who drinks out of this cup will be able to control their fate for a short while.” And so, the Chalice of Fate was born.

Chapter V

The Creation of the Magical Artifacts - Part Four

A knock on the door woke Cirrus in the middle of the night. He rushed out of bed to see who it was and to his surprise, found two royal knights.

“Lord Cirrus, the king sends word,” one knight said, as he handed Cirrus a letter with the royal seal.

Cirrus opened the letter and carefully read the king’s words. The king asked him to create a magical object that could help him in the ongoing wars with the goblins.

Cirrus didn’t waste any time. He got to work straight away. He was certain that with The Book of Knowing and The Chalice of Fate the king would have an advantage against the goblins. But he felt like something was missing. Over the next few days, Cirrus forged the First Fae’s Sword.

“Revon, I did it.” Cirrus held up the silver sword, moving it from side to side. “With this sword our king will never miss his target. All it needs is a drop of the king’s blood and it will be sired to him.”

Suddenly, pain erupted in Cirrus' back. He turned to see Revon standing beside him with a blood-covered dagger. Cirrus’ blood. Revon didn’t hesitate. He plunged the dagger into Cirrus’ stomach. Cirrus cried out in pain as he fell to the floor.

Chapter VI

The Creation of the Magical Artifacts - Part Five

Cirrus watched in horror as Revon grabbed the First Fae’s Sword and pricked the end of his thumb with the blade, siring the magical sword to him.

“I have been waiting for this moment,” Revon said. “With these three magical objects, I will be unstoppable. I will have all the glory and power. I will kill the king and all of his supporters, and rule over all the fae. Every being in this realm will bow before me.”

Cirrus was losing too much blood. He knew he was dying. With his last breath, he cursed Revon. “You may hold more power than all, but you will never be able to eliminate all of those who oppose you. Your power will be bound to these three objects, but even they will have limits.”

“We shall see about that,” Revon snarled as he took the First Fae’s Sword and put it through Cirrus’ heart.

With the three magical artifacts, Revon was able to channel more power than any other before him. He ended the war with the goblins. But when he turned to attack the fae, Cirrus’ curse held true. He could cause harm, but never eliminate those who opposed him.

Regardless, many followed Revon and soon the fae were divided. Revon and his followers became the Unseelie, while those who followed the true fae king became the Seelie.

Chapter VII

 Present Day

In a tavern on the outskirts of Frodence, patrons were eating and drinking. Card games were being played, while a bard sang a ballad. It was a normal night until a puff of black smoke appeared.

Startled, the patrons looked from side to side for the source. As the smoke faded away, a hooded and masked figure stood on a table.

“I am the Unseelie Heir,” the masked figure shouted. “Rise up, brothers and sisters. Join my army and together we will destroy the Seelie scum once and for all.”

Some patrons fled the tavern immediately, while others got on their knees and pledged their loyalty.

Chapter VIII

As the second event honouring the Great Conquest of King Oberon approaches, more appearances of the Unseelie Heir have been reported.

News of an army forming has spread across the land. King Oberon has started to enlist civilians into his army. The First Fae’s sword has been placed under the highest protection.

Brave, loyal citizens will attend the event and pay tribute to the Siege of Hope. But one question remains on everyone’s mind. Will the Unseelie Heir strike again?
