Hi, I’m the “Cool Aunt” behind Cool Aunt Jr.! As a craft instructor, dance teacher, and playground designer, I’m passionate about creating safe, supportive spaces where kids can play freely, express themselves, and build confidence. I believe in giving children the freedom to enjoy their summer while ensuring they feel secure, encouraged, and inspired to try new things. At camp, I balance fun and structure to help every child feel celebrated and make lasting memories.
Cool Aunt Jr. Summer Camp is dedicated to giving children a safe, welcoming space to explore nature, unleash their creativity, and form meaningful friendships. Our thoughtfully designed programs balance active outdoor play with engaging arts and crafts, ensuring every child has the opportunity to grow, express themselves, and feel celebrated. Inspired by the belief that every child deserves to thrive as their authentic self, we create experiences where imagination, adventure, and connection come to life.
As an arts camp instructor for many years, I’ve seen the need for camps that break free from the confines of a single room or rigid schedule. Kids thrive when they have the freedom to run, play, and explore different ideas throughout the day. I believe summer should be a time for creativity, adventure, and unstructured fun, balanced with just enough guidance to help them grow, connect, and feel inspired. That’s why I’m dedicated to creating a camp experience where children can feel both free and supported every step of the way.

I'm Lauren Martin, the director of Cool Aunt Creatives, and I'm thrilled to introduce you to our Cool Aunt Jr programming. With a background in landscape architecture and a specialization in environmental psychology and playground design, I bring an educational perspective to our camp experiences. As a dance teacher, however, I understand the importance of movement, creative expression, and most importantly, fun in child development.
My passion for the outdoors and adventure has always been a big part of my life, especially when performing my Cool Aunt duties with my even cooler niece and nephew. Over the years, I've had the joy of coordinating and instructing nature and crafts camps in other cities, where I've seen firsthand the impact these experiences can have on children.
In Guelph for the summer of 2024, I'm excited to bring these experiences to life at Cool Aunt Jr Summer Camp. Join me for a summer filled with creativity, exploration, and unforgettable memories!
